Wednesday Whimsy #37

Bonjour and happy Wednesday. I feel like I’m still recovering from a heat wave we had in Seattle on Sunday and Monday of this week. As most homes and apartments here don’t have AC, everyone feels it when it does get really hot. We ended up buying a portable AC unit when we realized I’d be finishing up the pregnancy during the hottest part of summer and on hot days I just camp out in there with my cross-stitch, audiobooks, and French homework to ride it out. I’m happy to finally have some French updates to include in a Wednesday Whimsy post.

Book
This week I published an early review of The Secret French Recipes of Sophie Valroux, the latest by Samantha Vérant. This book will be released on September 8, 2020 and you can read my review here.

There’s a battle going on between my need for savory crêpes and my body’s refusal to do almost anything on any given day. I think I’m going to have to save my energy to make these creamy avocado + hatch chile chicken charred corn (a real mouthful) crepechiladas from Half Baked Harvest while hatch chiles are in season.
I discovered the Faraway Places website this week. This article is what got me on the crêpe kick. While I was there I also somehow got the idea that I needed to watch Amelie with French subtitles to work on my French. I’ll let you know how it goes.
How could I reach Jamie Beck-dom without this guide to the best markets in Provence?
For those of you not pregnant, here’s 6 French cocktails to enjoy for me.
I wrote a post with a few tips on making your pregnancy and bébé more French.

T.V.
It’s been difficult lately to find a movie or t.v. show to keep my attention, but I recently started The Bonfire of Destiny on Netflix and I’m really enjoying it. I’m four episodes in and can’t wait to watch more.
